I’ve recently bought a dv6-2120 about 2 weeks ago and wifi is not functioning as it should. The problem is it wont connect or will disconnect if you bring the laptop out of about 4m radius from the router. I have 3 other laptops, 3 mobile phones and all of them worked perfectly well at the same area.

Called HP support the first time and instructed to install the bios / driver update for wireless broadcom. This does not solve the problem

initiated a instant chat support and the tech requested me to reseat the wifi! We insisted that we did not want to do this as this would possibly void the warranty and plus its not really gonna work.

We insisted for a replacement, after lodging the DOA would take them 15 DAYS to process ! I insisted that it would be faster for us to change it ourselves with the Good Guys. Good Guys wont accept any word from u until u get a reference no. from HP that says u can replace the laptop. I have to wait at least 2 days for confirmation from HP in my email. I need to produce that email to Good Guys for them to replace.

In all, i regret buying this laptop, getting it to replace is such a pain, if you dont insist on replacing, they would not do that. considering that HP knows about the issue with dv6000 models, this is not acceptable.

I will update you guys when i received the new laptop.

I also had a dv6000. Wireless stopped working first and then the LCD was black. I cannot imagine HP sold products with manufactured problems. Toyota had to pay penalty for the similar issue and why hp doesn’t.

I bought this laptop dv9700 less than two years ago and it got stuck in the start up and would not turn on.
I went to five technicians and all of them said that it was because of the motherboard and that it was very common with this model.
I called HP, telling them this, and the representative even tried to convince me that maybe it was because of the video card.
I asked them why they wouldn’t do anything to fix a common problem that many of their customers complain about.
The representative told me that it wasn’t a common problem, that HP had fixed the problem in the earlier models with limited warranty service enhancement, and that my laptop was not faulty.
It is ridiculous that I paid as much as I did for this laptop for it to not even work for two years.
It is frustrating to know that many people have the same issue regarding this particular model and that HP will not acknowledge that it exists and fix it.
Wish someone can help to seek for legal action.

This is a stupid issue and I assume there will be a fix issued shortly. I am glad that I did not have any custom settings to be concerned about.
